Android Auto - Spotify continuously logging out on Polestar

We've been receiving reports that users are being logged out from the Spotify app in Polestar cars. Some users say that it could happen every night (the car going into deep sleep), while others have to log in again within hours (on their way to work, and again when driving home).

Changing the login method and disabling the removal of cache helped some users resolve the issue.

My Question or Issue

With my Polestar 2, I have recently been having to log into the Spotify app after every night (the car going into deep sleep) I have tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling, tried all the different login wways (QR, password email, adding account under profile settings(car settings)) etc but still it logs out every deep sleep

Hey @wellsy13,

Thanks for reaching out and kudos for the troubleshooting you've already tried.

A quick search returned this Reddit thread where one of the users has found a solution (Go to Settings - Apps - Spotify and disable the removal of cache and settings).

Let us know if that helps. If it doesn't, please share your Polestar software version so we can forward this to the relevant team.

Cheers,

Hi Thanks for the reply.

I just found that setting meself and disabled and I'm sure I tried logging in again. But to be certain I'll give that a go and report back.

Thanks!

Hi unfortunately it lasted for around 2 weeks but once again I need to sign in.

Hey @wellsy13,

Sorry to see this happened again!

It's a good idea to first cover all the basics in this order:

  1. Uninstall the app from every car user profile
  2. Restart the car system
  3. Reinstall the Spotify app (in case the issue still persists)

We can confirm this has been the solution for similar Polestar-related issues, so it's worth the shot! 🙂

If the error persists, however, do let us know and we'll make sure to alert the right folks backstage.
Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Also have the same issue (P2) have tried the above which does not work:

  • Cache removal deactivated
  • Uninstall - reinstall and also tried again days apart with multiple sleeps, confirmed removed from all profiles.

Have to login within hours (drive to work and again when driving home) - tbh its gotten to the point will just unistall and try something else

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting in this thread!

We've passed this on to the right team so they can have a closer look. We'll keep you posted here if we have any news to share 🙂

@jatheral - In the meantime, we can suggest trying an alternative login method (if you haven't already), as it seems to have helped other users with a similar issue on the Polestar forum.

Cheers!

@Maria

This behaviour still occurs in my Polestar 2 and it's very frustrating. Tried all of the troubleshooting steps from above, but nothing worked.

How long will it take to fix it? It makes Spotify unusable in the car.
